LCL - The Awards 2024
We held our first award ceremony, 'LCL – The Awards' on 4th July. The event, which formed part of LCL
Award’s twentieth anniversary celebrations, took place at the Hilton Leicester, the night before the annual
Forum.
LCL Awards approved centres were invited to enter five categories - Gas, Electrical, Green, Inclusivity and
Innovation - which were judged by an independent panel of four judges:
- Stewart Clements of Director of The Heating & Hot Water Industry Council (HHIC)
- Brett Forster, Head of Training at NAPIT
- Hattie Hassan MBE, CEO of Stopcocks and advocate for women in the trades
- Charlotte Lee, CEO of The Heat Pump Association
Competition was tough and the judges were impressed with the standard of the submissions and the
initiatives that LCL Awards' approved centres have set up to ensure high quality training for their candidates.

LCL Awards Gas Centre 2024
Brookhouse (BTC Training Centre Limited)

Located in West Yorkshire, Brookhouse Training Centrehad established itself as a leading provider of domesticgas industry training since 2010. Their standout approachincluded guaranteed work placements for every learner,ensuring practical experience supported classroomlearning. This commitment resulted in over 1,800 newcandidates qualifying and 600 Gas Engineers beingreassessed. BTC’s focus on real-world readiness andstrong industry links made it a worthy winner.
LCL Awards Electrical Centre 2024
Logic4training - Sittingbourne

Since being acquired in 2019, the Sittingbourne branch ofLogic4training underwent significant redevelopment,emerging as a modern and well-equipped facility. Itoffered cutting-edge training in renewables such as EVcharging and battery storage, alongside traditionalelectrical qualifications. By blending advanced ITresources with hands-on learning, Logic4training raisedthe bar for electrical education.
LCL Awards Green Centre 2024
MidKent College

MidKent College's Net Zero Project showcased pioneering work in sustainability. Having secured £11 million in funding, the college transformed its campus into a low-carbon hub with geothermal heating, solar energy, and intelligent building management systems. Through its Green Academy, the college delivered hands-on training in renewables, firmly positioning itself as a leader in green skills education.

Walsall Training Centre

WinnersFounded in 2005, Walsall Training was celebrated for itsdeep commitment to inclusivity. Serving a diverse andmultilingual community, the centre created translated studyguides and embraced digital tools to overcome languagebarriers. With initiatives like their Women Only DIY course,Walsall Training empowered underrepresented groups andfostered a truly welcoming learning environment.
LCL Awards Innovation Award 2024
Energy Academy

The Energy Academy made history as the first recipient ofLCL’s Innovation Award, recognised for its forward-thinkingapproach to training delivery. Faced with growing learnerdemand and a need for greater flexibility, the academycreated a bespoke digital learning platform from theground up. This blended model combined interactiveonline modules with practical, in-person training—offeringlearners a more accessible, engaging, and efficient routeto qualification. The result was a modern trainingexperience that met industry standards withoutcompromise.
