What is RQF?
Regulated Qualifications
RQF is the Regulated Qualification Framework.
LCL Awards is recognised to award regulated qualifications by the following regulators in the UK;
- Ofqual (England),
- Qualifications Wales (Wales),
- CCEA (Northern Ireland)
Due of the strength of regulation behind the qualifications that they recognise and the reputation of these regulators, regulated qualifications are accepted across the UK.
The regulators are the same organisations which regulate GCSEs and A-Level qualifications.
LCL Awards having gained recognition by all of those regulators has to continually show that we are meeting the conditions of recognition, that our qualifications are of a very high standard and are ‘fit for purpose’ and that the learners who hold a regulated qualification certificate have all attained the same level of skills, knowledge and understanding for the same qualification.
Each regulated qualification is allocated a level and size by LCL Awards to help learners, centres, employers and others to understand its level of demand providing clear information about the typical time it should take to complete the qualification.
The size of regulated qualifications are awarded at one of three levels
LCL Awards use the following terms in their qualifications, as an indication of their size:
- Award - (10 – 120 hours of total learning time)
- Certificate - (121 – 369 hours of total learning time)
- Diploma (370 or more hours of total learning time)
