Qualification Information |
This suite of three new regulated qualifications have been brought up to date in association with the Heat Pump Association, industry and MCS and are designed for learners from a heating background (wet central heating systems) to demonstrate their knowledge in the Installation and Maintenance of Heat Pumps Systems (non-refrigerant circuits) NOTE: Whilst the qualification is designed for sealed refrigerant systems and precludes the knowledge and competence requirements to break, make and fill split refrigerant circuits which would be covered by separate Refrigerant Handling Qualifications, the knowledge and understanding criteria are still relevant and this qualification could be undertaken by operatives wishing to install splits systems so long as they are also separately qualified in the handling of refrigerants as described in the EU F-GAS regulation and the Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases Regulations. Learning Outcomes and Assessment Criteria |
See Qualification Specification in the related documents section. |
Prerequisites |
An Initial Assessment conducted by the Approved Centre (AC) on application for the qualification will determine the learner’s capability to complete the qualification. Learners holding a level 2 or 3 vocational qualification in the Building Engineering Sector which includes the current WRAS Water Regulations/Water Byelaws or equivalent will confirm their capability to complete the qualification. Learners not holding a qualification above, will be required to provide evidence to the Approved Centre of an alternative suitable qualification and or provide confirmation of their related work experience and skills. Learners wishing to upskill and design installations (MIS3005-D (The Heat Pump Standard - Design)) would need to undertake further training in addition to this qualification such as the |
