- Plumbing installer working in domestic or light commercial environments
The NVQ Diploma is recognised as proof of competence and can support applications to industry registration schemes once combined with further experience and qualifications.

What is involved in delivering this qualification?
To deliver the Level 2 Diploma and NVQ Diploma in the Installation & Maintenance of Plumbing & Heating Systems, a training centre must be approved by LCL Awards and meet their delivery and quality assurance requirements.
To deliver this qualification, centres need qualified teachers and assessors with relevant industry plumbing and heating experience, supported by suitable teaching and assessment credentials. Centres must provide well-equipped practical training workshops where learners can develop skills in hot and cold water systems, heating systems, drainage, and electrical connections. They must also give learners access to up-to-date resources, including water regulations, Building Regulations, and industry standards.
The qualifications are assessed through a written exam set and marked by LCL Awards, a practical workplace assessment carried out by an LCL approved assessor, and portfolio of on-site evidence.
Centres therefore need secure IT facilities for online exams, structured workshop environments, and robust internal verification systems to ensure assessment consistency and compliance.
