What is involved in delivering this qualification?
To deliver the Level 3 Award in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations, a training centre must be approved by LCL Awards and meet their delivery and quality assurance standards.
Centres need qualified teachers and assessors with relevant industry experience in electrical inspection and testing, along with appropriate teaching and assessment qualifications. They must also provide access to up-to-date resources, including the current edition of BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and other relevant industry guidance.
Centres must have suitable practical facilities with a range of electrical installations, equipment, and calibrated test instruments to allow learners to demonstrate inspection, testing, and certification procedures in realistic conditions.
Assessment involves:
- An on-screen multiple-choice exam, which is set and marked by LCL Awards.
- A practical performance assessment, which is set by LCL Awards but delivered and marked by LCL Awards approved assessors.
Centres must therefore provide secure IT facilities for online exams and a well-equipped practical area where learners can demonstrate safe inspection and testing procedures.
