- Installation and service engineers handling pipework and system components
- Maintenance technicians responsible for system repair and modification
- Professionals needing certification to meet industry or F-Gas Regulation requirements
It ensures compliance with environmental and safety standards, helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions from RACHP systems.
What progression opportunities are available when I complete this qualification?
After completing This qualification, you may progress to:
- Other specialist RACHP qualifications, such as flammable refrigerants or renewable heat pump systems
- Ongoing CPD and revalidation training to maintain competence and meet legal requirements
This qualification ensures you are well-placed to meet the growing demand for environmentally friendly, low-carbon refrigeration solutions.
What is involved in delivering this qualification?
To deliver this qualification, a training centre must be approved by LCL Awards and meet their quality assurance requirements.
Centres must employ qualified teachers and assessors with current industry experience in RACHP systems and oxy-fuel brazing, supported by appropriate teaching and assessing qualifications.
They must provide practical training facilities equipped with oxy-fuel rigs, brazing torches, regulators, flashback arrestors, non-return valves, copper and steel pipework, and safety equipment. Learners must be able to perform pipe preparation, brazing, inspection, and leak testing tasks under realistic conditions.
Assessment is completed through a practical brazing performance test and a knowledge assessment, both set by LCL Awards. Centres therefore require safe workshop environments, appropriate ventilation, and robust internal verification systems to ensure assessment consistency and compliance.
