What careers can this qualification lead to?

This qualification supports career development in areas such as:

  • Gas Auditor assessing management procedures and compliance
  • Compliance or Quality Control Officer within a gas business
  • Gas Supervisor

Becoming a qualified auditor not only ensures compliance but also provides a robust benchmark for best practice, which is increasingly valued in the gas sector.

What progression opportunities are available when I complete this qualification?

This qualification also strengthens opportunities for progression into compliance management, safety inspection, or broader leadership roles within the gas sector.

What is involved in delivering this qualification?

To deliver the Level 3 Award in Auditing of a Gas Business’s Work Management Procedures, a training centre must be approved by LCL Awards and meet their delivery and quality assurance requirements.

Centres need experienced teachers and assessors with strong technical knowledge of gas safety and auditing, as well as relevant teaching and assessment qualifications. Delivery must be supported by access to up-to-date regulations and guidance, including the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations (GSIUR), GIUSP, RIDDOR, and other industry standards that underpin audit practice.

Assessment involves both written short-response tasks and a practical audit of a gas business’s management systems. This means centres must ensure learners have the opportunity and support to complete a real-world audit, either within their own organisation or another gas business, and to produce a portfolio of evidence. Centres must therefore have the systems in place to oversee this process, provide guidance, and maintain secure verification of assessment outcomes.
