General Information
Background and Prerequisites
OFT10-102 is required for any operative wishing to carry out work on domestic vaporising appliances. In addition, the operative must hold the relevant tank and other installation elements applicable to the work they wish to undertake.
- OFT10-600: Domestic & Non-domestic Oil Storage and Supply Installation
- OFT10-105E: Domestic Oil Firing System Installation and Energy Conservation Measures in Buildings
For the initial assessment candidates must meet the entry requirements as laid out by OFTEC for category 1, 2, and 3 entrants. Further information on this can be found in the Handbook for Learners and Centres
For re-assessment candidates must have held the element previously - if this has expired within 12 months of the assessment date the initial assessment must be undertaken.
This would have an equivalence to Level 3 qualifications.

What is involved in delivering this accredited certification’s assessments?
Centres delivering the OFTEC OFT-102D/W certification assessment must be approved by LCL Awards and have assessors with relevant industry experience and appropriate assessing experience and or qualifications.
Assessment involves a combination of multiple-choice questions, short written responses, scenario-based exercises, and observed practical tasks.
Centres must adhere to the requirements of the LCL Awards' Approved Centre Quality Management System and the Centre Agreement in delivering the certification’s examinations and assessments.
