Upon completion, learners may choose to progress to more advanced safety or energy efficiency-related qualifications, or broader training in domestic retrofit or insulation installation practices.
Progression depends on your current role and professional development goals.
What is Involved in Delivering This Course?
Centres delivering the Gas Safety for Cavity Wall Insulation Course must be approved by LCL Awards and have teachers with relevant industry experience and appropriate qualifications.
Assessment involves the learner answering multiple-choice questions. Centres must adhere to the requirements of the LCL Awards' Approved Centre Quality Management System and the Centre Agreement in delivering the certification’s examinations and assessments.
Centres must ensure the course is delivered by teachers with experience in both gas safety and insulation practices.
Teachers must hold relevant teaching qualifications and have a strong understanding of the IGEM document Standards of Training in Gas Work.
Course delivery is classroom-based in one day.
The course content must cover combustion principles, flue and ventilation requirements, safety legislation, and how insulation work can impact gas appliance performance.
Learners must understand their legal responsibilities and how to recognise potential risks in domestic settings.
Assessment is completed by answering multiple choice questions, which assess the learners’ knowledge of gas safety awareness in relation to insulation or cladding work.
