For Bespoke Electrical Training, preparing electricians for an industry changing at pace starts with getting the fundamentals right.
Winner of the Electrical Centre Award at the 2026 LCL Awards – 'The Awards', Bespoke stood out to the judges for combining strong foundational electrical training with emerging technologies, including solar PV, electrical energy storage systems (EESS) and EV charging. Its commitment to industry-relevant courses and future-proofing skills demonstrates a clear focus on preparing electricians for both today's requirements and the opportunities ahead.
The award marks a second consecutive win for Bespoke in the Electrical Centre category, underlying the consistency of its approach.
"Winning this award for the second year running is something we're incredibly proud of. It's a real testament to the hard work, passion and commitment of our entire team, who go above and beyond for every learner," said Don Cross.
Building strong foundations for the future
The central ethos for Bespoke is the belief that future-proofing electricians' careers depends on a strong understanding of core electrical principles.
Learners develop competence in essential areas including safe isolation, circuit design, installation, inspection, testing and fault finding. These underpinning skills provide the foundation for both conventional electrical work and the technologies increasingly being incorporated into modern installations.
Rather than delivering solar PV, electrical energy storage and EV charging as isolated subjects, Bespoke embeds them within the broader training journey. Learners explore how the latest renewable technologies interact with traditional electrical installations, developing a more holistic understanding of system design, testing and installation.
In practical sessions, learners may work on domestic installations incorporating lighting and power circuits alongside an EV charger, or integrate a PV array with battery storage. Realistic project-based tasks also reflect current industry demands, requiring learners to assess capacity, apply regulations and implement safe, compliant solutions.
Keeping training current
Course content is regularly reviewed to reflect advances in technology, changes in industry practice and the latest wiring regulations, while trainers undertake continuous professional development to ensure their knowledge remains current.
The judges recognised this approach, praising Bespoke for its "focused training on future technologies" and commitment to working closely with local employers and industry partners to align training with real workforce needs.
Putting learners first
While future-focused training is a key part of Bespoke's offering, the centre's approach is fundamentally learner-led.
"Our Tutors and Assessors have been in the industry, so we understand the challenges learners face. We treat every learner as an individual and genuinely want them to succeed, both during training and throughout their careers," said Don.
Learners are encouraged to ask questions and seek advice throughout their training.
"We combine high-quality training with a supportive, approachable environment. Classes are practical, engaging and kept small, and learners know they can always come to us for advice," Don added.
Learning by doing
At Bespoke, practical learning is built around realistic situations that learners are likely to encounter in the workplace.
The centre's workshop environment replicates real installation scenarios, allowing candidates to install, test and fault-find using modern equipment. Simulated faults, scenario-based assessments and guided workshops help develop practical problem-solving skills, while digital learning resources allow learners to revisit material and reinforce their understanding outside the workshop.
Small group sizes also enable tutors to provide individual support, helping learners develop both competence and confidence.
For Bespoke, the value of this approach is reflected in learner feedback. One recent learner highlighted the friendly and helpful tutors, smaller class sizes and modern training facilities, and said they intended to return for further courses.

Open days, taster sessions and engagement with local communities are also used to promote careers in the electrical industry and highlight opportunities in areas such as renewable energy and EV infrastructure.
