Top tips for LCL centres on LinkedIn
09 Oct 2025

LinkedIn is a powerful tool for raising awareness of your business, sharing updates, and connecting with potential learners. Many LCL Awards approved centres are already using LinkedIn - but some aren’t making the most of it yet!
Here are some quick, easy tips to help you get started and boost your online presence.
1. Set up a company page
If you haven’t already, create a LinkedIn ‘Company Page’ for your centre. This gives you a professional presence online, separate from personal profiles, and makes it easier for learners and employers to find and follow you. Your company page is the perfect place to share updates, photos, videos, and showcase your centre’s achievements. A fully optimised page gets 30% more weekly views!
Check you’ve got the fundamentals:
-
Profile picture: Use a high-quality, professional image of your centre’s logo.
-
Cover image: Think of this as a digital billboard and use it to showcase your training center in action - learners with equipment, a shot of the facility or a banner promoting a new course. Update this image to highlight seasonal campaigns or new offerings.
-
Company overview (About Us): Tell your story! Write a concise summary using keywords, explaining what your centre does, the industries you serve and your mission statement.
-
Tip for LCL centres: Mention your affiliation with LCL Awards and specify what qualifications you offer - such as gas, electrical or renewables.
-
Call-to-action (CTA) button: Make use of this customisable button at the top of your page to direct people, e.g ‘Visit Website’ or ‘Contact Us.’
-
Custom URL: Make the public URL your centre’s name (or shortened version if you have one) - no spaces or special characters, just keep it simple. A custom URL looks more professional and makes it easier for people to find and share.
-
How to do it: Go to your Company Page → Edit Page → Page Info → edit the LinkedIn Public URL by typing in your company name
2. Tag LCL Awards
Whenever you post about courses, or events, tag LCL Awards in your updates (simply type the @ symbol followed by our name). This helps us see what you’re up to and means we can like, comment, and share your posts - giving your content a wider audience and extra engagement.
If you’re working with other businesses or sharing updates about learners on LinkedIn, tag them too.
3. Use video content
Video is the most engaging type of content on LinkedIn - video posts get 5 times more engagement than any other type of content. And if you fancy going live, the engagement is 24 times more!
Short clips of training in action, learner feedback, or tutors explaining what makes your centre special can really bring your page to life. Keep it simple, even a quick video filmed on your phone can make a big impact.
4. Be a people person
People connect with people. Share posts that feature your trainers, learners, and staff. A photo of a successful group of candidates, a story about a tutor’s experience, or a learner’s testimonial will always perform better than a generic image or text alone.
As mentioned, if anyone in your posts is on LinkedIn, make sure you tag them so they see the post and engage with it.
5. Build your presence
Don’t just set up a page and leave it sitting there - focus on building your centre’s presence. Invite staff, trainers, and learners to follow your page, and encourage them to share your posts with their own networks. Connect with local employers, industry groups, and other training providers to grow your audience. The more people who see and engage with your content, the stronger your reputation becomes on LinkedIn.
6. Be consistent
You don’t need to post every day, once a week is a good start, but the key is to be consistent. Regular updates keep your page active, help you build followers, and show that your centre is professional and engaged.
Final tip: Don’t forget, LCL Awards is here to support you. Tag us in your posts and we’ll help spread the word about your centre.
Together, we can boost engagement and awareness for the fantastic work you’re doing.
