International Women’s Day 2024 – Inspire Inclusion
07 Mar 2024
8th March is International Women’s Day (IWD), an annual celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women around the world. IWD is a powerful reminder of the progress made towards gender equality - as well a chance to highlight areas where that require improvement.
This year's IWD theme is Inspire Inclusion, which underscores the crucial role of inclusion in gender equality and links with LCL Awards’ commitment to promote inclusivity through its approved centres.
In 2022 we launch our Inclusivity Charter, which sets out the values we expect LCL Awards centres to share, ensuring that training facilities are welcoming places, with flexible course options to suit people from all walks of life.
IWD recognises the importance of learning in helping women achieve their goals and overcome challenges:
“Education and awareness play vital roles in fostering inclusion and empowering women. Through initiatives such as mentorship programs, educational workshops, and advocacy campaigns, individuals and organizations can create opportunities for women to thrive. By providing support and resources, women can be empowered to overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential.”
IWD’s Inspire Inclusion is a call for action to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create environments where all women are valued and respected.
Inclusivity for all
This year, we are looking to expand the scope of the charter to ensure our centres are inclusive to as wide a range of learners as possible, making sure course delivery is clear and easy to understand for candidates with dyslexia, autism, or trainees for whom English isn’t a first language, for example. We are currently working on refining the guidelines, which will be introduced later in the year.
LCL Awards is passionate about ensuring the building services sector is a safe space for all. We want to hear from our centres already doing great things towards this aim. If you have a story to tell, please contact Emily Hedges, emily@jellopr.co.uk.
