LCL Awards in Cyprus
25 Nov 2019Christina Aradipiotis owns and runs CMS Training in the town of Limasol on the south coast of Cyprus. Her mission is to support contractors working on the Sovereign Bases (SBAs) on the island as well as local businesses with the very best in training. CMS Training has just put its first two learners through LCL Awards Managed Learning Programme and our Lead External Verifier & Technical Specialist, James Livingstone was keen to catch up with Christina and find out how it was all going.
Catering equipment event looks to the future
25 Nov 2019LCL Awards’ Technical Expert & External Verifier, Steve Humphreys, recently led a session on the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations for CEDA, the Catering Equipment Distributors Association and CESA, the Catering Equipment industry's largest trade organisation. Steve joined others from the catering sector as part of a Service Engineers CPD Forum on 9th October in Cannock in Staffordshire.

What’s happening with F-Gas?
19 Nov 2019From January 2020 current F-Gas legislation will enforce new rulings to ensure that installation, service and equipment bans come into force for appliances that run on higher GWP products such as R404A. RAC magazine held its annual F-Gas Question Time event in London recently and experts from the cooling sector agreed that now the use of R404A as a variable refrigerant in Europe was coming to a definite end, it was time to get down the nitty gritty.
Government push-back on Smart Meter deadline offers potential to centres

Largely due to a lack of confidence in the original technology and the reliability of the SMETS1 devices, installation figures have fallen way behind projections so there’s an urgent demand for installers to help redress the shortfall.

LCL Awards’ Shield awarded at Moray College
24 Oct 2019This year’s LCL Awards’ Shield has been awarded to Matthew Blance from Shetland, an apprentice at Moray College UHI. Matthew, who is employed by Steven Johnston, was given the award for being the Best Gas, Oil and Renewables Apprentice at the college’s annual prize-giving ceremony on September 26th. The Martin Group, specialists in test instrumentation, supported us in donating an AGP45 gas leak pen as part of Matthew’s prize.
